Hello, all! As I've mentioned before, I was a pattern tester for the brand, spanking new Sewaholic Renfrew pattern, a knit top pattern with three interchangeable necklines and sleeve lengths for a total of nine different tops. As I've said in my previous post, it's the pattern that keeps on giving.
More often than not, when sewing knits comes up, other sewers will say that either that 1) they're afraid of sewing knits, or 2) that they hate sewing knits, based on some previous bad experience.
But I think sewing knits is so liberating, an incredible part of sewing know-how. More than half of my wardrobe is knit and I suspect we all have a few knits on hand because they're comfortable, forgiving and versatile. Why not spend some time sewing knits for yourself? An added bonus: They whip up in no time, a real treat between long or hard sewing projects.
So I'd like to give this pattern away and share my love of sewing knits. I know many of you clever gals have already snapped one up in the pre-sale, but if not, here's the info:
To enter: Simply leave a comment with your email address. If you'd like to share, I'd love to to hear how you might use the pattern as I think it's so versatile (and could even be easily lengthened into a tunic or dress!).
The giveaway closes at the end of Wednesday, February 8. Will ship worldwide.
Good luck!
In closing, here's some Renfrew inspiration: Amy of Sew Well made the Renfrew four times! And I just love anything very purple person makes, and her Renfrews are lovely. Plus many more are floating around the blogosphere. :)
That blue lace dress update--I took your advice!

You all were totally right about this dress I made out of vintage blue
lace... (without even thinking about it as I cut it out, I made the skirt

Wow, I would love to win a copy of this pattern! I love all three versions (well, all 9 versions!) and I plan on buying a copy in the future in any case. :)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely make a bunch of 3/4 sleeved shirts for work if I won this pattern!
ReplyDeleteI love sewing with knits and would really enjoy this pattern. I would really like to make the stripe knit top with the V neck pattern with some stripe fabric I have on order. Thanks for offering this.
ReplyDeleteI like the stripey version by very purple person best so far, but they all look so great...it seems like a really versatile pattern for basics. I have a smidge of stretch Anna Sui lace (I DIE) that I've been hoarding for a nice tee...I'm thinking of using it as the cowl neck with a green rayon knit base, or possibly as sleeves a short sleeved version. Either way, I love that sewaholic patterns require next to no adjustments on my very triangle-y shape. It's refreshing :).
ReplyDeleteI've been dreaming about the cowl neck version in something snuggly and warm. Maybe dark grey. I think the cold weather at the moment must be getting to me!
ReplyDeleteYAY! count me in! I've never really sewn with knits before and this is the perfect chance! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of tunic dresses: have been meaning to make my version of this for a while:

I bet the Renfrew pattern could help me there!
When I first saw the pattern released I was underwhelmed. But now that I'm seeing more made versions on the web, I'm kicking myself in the pants for not taking advantage of the pre-order with free shipping! So yes, I'd love to win a copy. :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely fall into the "scared of sewing with knits" category. The closest I've come is altering an existing knit garment. The pattern looks so versatile, I would love to win it.

I need some basic long sleeved tops as I currently have a grand total of one.

I'm new to sewing with knits, but since I got my overlocker I'm keen to give it a go. I love the idea of tunics and dresses.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win this pattern, like you most of my wardrobe is knits but I've yet to find a suitable pattern to make them, this could well be it.
ReplyDeletebridgetannkelly[at]gmail[dot]com
I'd love to win this pattern! All of the versions I've seen of it look great. I'd really like to try the cowl-neck one.

Please enter me in your contest. I love knits and there is nothing better than a great fitting knit top - they are one of my favorite things to sew.

Oh cool! This would be a neat pattern to win. I haven't quite mastered the t-shirt yet.
ReplyDeletekmsarles@hotmail.com
I'd love to be entered to win, I enjoy working with knits and that does look like a good pattern. I'd probably narrow the neckline slightly as it's wider than I prefer, but aside from that I love the V-neck

I will make shirts of all variations for long torsos -- that's what my two sisters and I "suffer" from and I'd like to end that by mass producing long shirts. I haven't dared to try shirts yet but with this pattern, I will!
ReplyDeleteIf you choose me: Kate-internet@web.de
What a lovely looking pattern. I work in one of those offices where the air con is always doing the opposite to the outside world - freezing in summer, stifling in winter. So, I'd use this pattern to make comfy, easy to wear work tops.
ReplyDeleteI really like sewing with knits and having this pattern may give me a reason to plunk some change down for some silk knit that I can use to make the cowl version. What a nice giveaway! saraspnda at yahoo dot com.
ReplyDeleteI have been sewing for many years but I think I have made only 4 knit things. I love Tasia's patterns and would like to try one as it is said she has good instructions and the fit and style look great on the ones I've seen. Thanks so much. sofiem@internode.on.net
ReplyDeleteI love v necks... would love to make some taylored just for me!
ReplyDeleteLmwilliams2009@gmail.com
I would love to win a copy of the Renfrew pattern! I wear so many knit tops, and I can see myself making this up in all nine variations. Thanks for such a great giveaway!
ReplyDeletethisdamselflies at gmail dot com
OOOHH! I'm seeing a cowl necked tunic (with a hoodie-style pocket in front?) and leggings. Cozy! Casey@seamlycreations.com
ReplyDeleteOh, count me in! I would make up he cowl-neck version in something wintery (I have a vintage wool jersey that would be perfect, actually...), and glory in ot having to topstitch the hems!
ReplyDeleteOooo a friend of mine pointed out this pattern to me, and I've been dreaming of it ever since. It's hard to find a good basic shirt pattern that doesn't have some strange twist to it. I think I'd make about a bajillion of these, including some basic field work clothes!
ReplyDeletePlease include me in your giveaway! sewingonpins at gmail dot com.
I would love to win this pattern. I haven't sewn with knits yet, and this one has so many good reviews and creations already.
ReplyDeletecrystalamundson(at)comcast(dot)net
I love to try this pattern as it is, then attempt to modify it into a dress; it seems so comfy and wearable!
ReplyDeleteYour versions of the top look great, by the way!
Sam
I have such problems getting tshirts that are long enough in the body and sleeves it would be a joy to have Renfrews in all incarnations in a bunch of different fabrics. A real wardrobe staple, I think.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway.
Oh wow - thanks for such a great giveaway! I have never sewn with knits yet but with all the amazing reviews of this pattern I think it would be the perfect one to start on!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance! Sneakfuzz at hotmail
ReplyDeleteI've seen so much in the blogsphere about this pattern, I'd love to have an excuse to try it out!
ReplyDeleteYay, for a giveaway! I work in a VERY casual environment and usually wear t-shirts. These would definitely give me a great base for a non-boxy tee. email is monicaquijada11 (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the giveaway! I have a piece of red rayon that would make an awesome cowl version.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid of sewing knits but I want to get over it.
ReplyDeletejanicegaringo (at) gmail (dot) com
I am a creature of habit...when I find something that I like and it fits well, I want it in a dozen colors. I think this would be it! I have fabric stashed just waiting for it!!! I love sewing with knits and this could be the only top pattern I use this year. Thanks for the chance to win.

i'm learning so much from you!

I really want to make the cowl neck version of this and I have the perfect blue knit for it! Thank you for the chance to win this.
ReplyDeletekarenlachance22(@)gmail(.)com
The Renfrew looks like such a versatile pattern! I know I would make all the views. divinedime at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteCount me in Ali, the renfrews I have seen all look so good and so versatile. I could really do with some fresh knits as mine are getting holey and worn out. x
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your site today! Fun stuff. I think view B would be great as a tunic length. I like all those necklines, they would really flatter! I can see view A as a go-to top, just as is. I haven't seen this pattern before. merriehaskins at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI really need new simple t-shirts, and since I'm currently shrinking (a little), I don't want to buy them (esp. since I have boxes of fabric!). Tracykm@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI think I would try view b!
ReplyDeleteI love the cowl neck style; that would make either a cosy top or a classy little dress (or both... I expect I might not stop once I've started!)
ReplyDeleteCowl neck is great. I may make a sleeveless version for warmer months or even a woolen version
ReplyDeleteI think I'd make 15 versions of the cowl neck, I work in the coldest office and always need a cozy scarf or cowl to snuggle into.
ReplyDeleteI'd love this pattern! all the versions I've seen so far look great!

This pattern looks really great, a great basis to any wardrobe :) I like sewing with knits since thats what I mostly wear anyway. For summer a V-neck with shirt sleeves would be perfect.

Thanks for offering. This might be the pattern that makes me brave enough to try sewing knits.
